I came across this coop for artists and creative professionals a few years ago while researching models for a freelancer cooperative. They have 35,000 members across the EU, and seem to primarily provide shared productivity tools and administrative support.
My background is in supporting local small business owners with few or no employees. I am particularly interested in models that extend coop features beyond the scope of traditional employee-owned workplaces. It drives me crazy that freelancers, 1099s, and the informal economy are all left to individually sort out their taxes and healthcare, where best practices and co-purchasing could provide a huge benefit. (Note: in Europe, the coop does not need to solve for health insurance, because that is provided by the state.)
Has anyone seen similar models of coops owned by independent business owners, entrepreneurs, freelancers?
